How do football teams get to the Super Bowl Every Year? Out of the 32 teams in the National Football League, only 2 make it to the Super Bowl in late January/early February. What separates the teams that make the Super Bowl from the ones that cannot reach this game? It is basically a combination of strategy, talent, heart, desire, and some luck.

Keep in mind that there are also some fundamental differences between teams that reach the super bowl and ones that do not make the final game. The most important aspect of getting to the super bowl is having a veteran leader that can control the offense at quarterback.

Other than Kurt Warner, Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady several years ago stepping into the limelight as young quarterbacks with little experience, most of the signal callers in the game are veterans that have had several years experience with the team they are guiding and know how to make the right decisions in clutch times. They can control the flow of the game, and tend not to panic in the playoffs when there are difficult environments or harsh conditions.

In the end, they tend to overcome these obstacles, and if they understand that games are not won or lost on a single play, they are able to control the game enough to win and make the super bowl. Second, a strong, stout defense is required to make the super bowl. No team makes the super bowl giving up 30+ points per game. Most teams actually have defenses that often score a TD or set up their team with easy touchdowns following turnovers, whether they be fumbles or interceptions.

Teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Chicago Bears have made super bowls solely through strong defenses that are able to hold up when their team has little to no offense. Usually this requires a leader on defense. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a stout defense, fall into this category. Home field advantage in the playoffs is also big. Getting a chance to play in front of your home crowd gives you the advantage in crowd noise that often disrupts the other team, plus the home team is able to sleep in their own beds, go through a normal routine, and not have to travel prior to the game. Both the Steelers and the Cardinals spent 2 games at home during the playoffs, and only the Cardinals had to go on the road at all in the playoffs.

Last, the teams need to understand how to last until the fourth quarter. Most teams will end up losing in the fourth because they tire easily, or cannot endure 60 minutes of football. The Cardinals always had several weapons on offense and defense to rely upon, and that helped them make the final game. The Steelers wore down each of their opponents, and in the end that allowed them to make the final championship. Finally, both teams are ready for the super bowl, and this should be a great game.

Yes, there are many Super Bowl Sundays we wish could be erased from existence. Want to read sports news? Visit http://www.coolsportsshop.com for more
