NFL Sports Spuds Miami Dolphins Mr. Potato Head

Each NFL Sports Spud includes a team jersey, helmet, foam finger, football, and other components. A great fan item - a great collectible!
Customer Review: Great for A Dolphins Fan!
I bought as a stocking stuffer for my son. This is a small 'spud' potato, not the large 'Mr. Potato Head' kind. He didn't play with it much, but displayed with his other Miami Dolphins collectables.

Customer Review: Great Fan Piece!
If you're looking for warm - this really isn't it, but if you want a great fan piece that will give you light coverage - this is your blanket! My son loves it!
Customer Review: New Orleans Saints fleece throw
Purchased the throw for a youngster, for Christmas, who happens to be a Saints fan. It arrived in a timely manner just like they promised. It looks just like the illustration. My only disappointment was I thought it was going to be a little heavier than it is. But it will be fine for a nine year old. He was thrilled and that is what is important.

Here is my description of the top ten defenses in the NFL. This season looks to be a roller coaster and a lot of teams will have trouble staying on top of this list. This was written after week three so things may change from now to later in the season.

10. Arizona Cardinals: They have some of the sickest safeties in the league. We're talking Adrian Wilson and Antrel Rolle. The corners are not bad either. I mean they got Rodgers Cromartie as well as other consistent players. They would be higher on this list but their run defense is suspect. I haven't heard of any of their linebackers or defensive lineman. And I'm sure you haven't either. They are allowing 100 yards per game rushing which is not bad but they have played San Fran, Miami, and Washington. So not the toughest foes just yet.

9. Green Bay Packers: They would also be much higher if they hadn't just lost Al Harris for a couple games. They have a great secondary and just couldn't keep it together against a great Cowboys offense last weekend. They gave up 48 points against the Lions, come on it's the Lions. They fired their coach this past week cause he's so horrible. They may be a playoff team but that is partly because of their offense.

8. N.Y. Giants: Here is a team with tons of big name lineman and linebackers. Plus that is without Michael Strahan. Can I just say Daaang! They are holding teams to 84 yards per game rushing and 167 through the air. Not bad week in and week out. They blitz hard and they seem to get like 6 to 8 sacks a game. Their secondary keeps opponents in check and doesn't get beat deep.

7. Philadelphia Eagles: Solid defense all around. Yes they gave up 40 plus against the Cowboys. But that is a stellar offense on that Dallas team. It was literally the two best teams going at it, but I digress. They have been holding their other opponents scoring to a minimum and will dominate throughout the year. Held Pittsburgh to six points and St. Louis to three! As Borat once said "Very Nice!"

6. Tennesee Titans: As hard as it to not talk about the offense, I will attempt it. Well, their defense is going to be on the field a lot longer which will lead to more teams scoring on them once they get tired. They are in the top ten because they have done all right so far. However maintaining this will take a miracle. Good luck Titans!

5. Dallas Cowboys: This team I would like to put higher but everyone above of them is just outrageous on defense. They have a stellar backfield now with Pac Man Jones and Terrence Newman. Linebackers like Zach Thomas and Demarcus Ware make up a vicious pass and run stopping team.

4. Buffalo Bills: With Donte Whitner at Strong Safety and other all around players on D these Bills keep shutting down opponents. They also have Marcus Shroud at Defensive Tackle, that guy can play! They could stay at the top of their division if they keep playing like this. Out with the old(New England) in with the new(Bills). Who knows we could get a repeat of the Cowboys Bills Super Bowls.

3. Minnesota Vikings: Holding teams to 70.3 rushing yards per game, that is second best in the league. On top of that their pass defense is ridiculously good. They have Darren Sharper at Safety and Antoine Winfield and Cedric Griffin for Corners. Their defensive line is the one Coaches drool over. If they can get their offense clicking that would benefit their defense so they have some time to sip some Gatorade and cool off.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers: I can't remember a time in my lifetime where they weren't amazing on defense. They might have trouble keeping it together though this season as Casey Hampton and Brett Keisel of the defensive line are out for the season.

1. Baltimore Ravens: Wow. Maybe I should stop right there. They are holding their opponents to 70 yards per game on the ground and 90 yards through the dark sky their foe must be seeing. Yes I know what your all thinking, why didn't I get them on my fantasy team, well I'm in the same boat but lets move on. Now yes you could say they only played 2 opponents thus far. But still, the Browns and Bengals are struggling, but they still have threats on offense like Chad Johnson that were contained by the Ravens.

As we approach the home stretch in college basketballs regular season, handicappers look more and more at how meaningful a game might be to a particular team. There are conference races taking place, tournament seedings and even RPI ratings at stake for many teams. Of course, there are also meaningless games with nothing at stake.

These points are particularly true with Saturdays Bracket Buster games. Several teams are matched up against each other with losing records with pretty much nothing at stake. The name Bracket Buster gives the illusion that every game has an interesting nonconference matchup that should provide some kind of excitement. As George and Ira Gershwin once wrote, "It aint necessarily so." Here are some meaningless games this weekend featuring teams with losing records: Indiana State/Western Michigan, Wright State/Bowling Green and Delaware/Cleveland State. You couldnt give me a ticket to see those games.

Another factor to consider is that these are nonconference games, so the scheduling spot is unusual for all teams. That is, some teams are in close battles for first place in their respective conferences, and now they have to step OUT of conference play Saturday, and then jump back into conference play the next game sometime next week. Teams that are focused on catching another team in the conference, for instance, have to put that aside for one game and worry about a WIN rather than conference positioning. Its important to keep close tabs on teams that may be looking past their bracket buster battle.

Louisiana Tech plays at Southern Illinois Saturday, as the WAC meets the Missouri Valley Conference. Southern Illinois is not likely to lay down for this game, as they are always tough at home. They recently had a 33-game home win streak end, so they take great pride in defending their home turf. On the other hand, Southern Illinois is currently locked in a wild race in the Missouri Valley Conference. So to suddenly play a team from the WAC in the middle of this great race is unusual. A handicapper needs to take all these factors into consideration.

There are also some interesting games where RPI and power ratings are at stake. Again, Southern Illinois is one of these, with an 18-8 record as they close in on a 20-win season. Another is George Mason at Wichita State, featuring two powerhouse teams from the MVC and the Colonial.

Many sports fans might overlook a game like Bucknell at Northern Iowa at first glance, but it is an interesting battle between two 20-win teams that are looking to improve their RPI rankings. Bucknell is ranked 24th in the nation. Also remember that one team has the home court edge, which means it's critical to check how the opponent plays on the road. So, Bracket Buster weekend offers some interesting matchups where intangibles can be a big part of the equation. But it also offers duds like Youngstown State/Canisius! Enjoy the weekend....Al McMordie.

The highlight of Alabama at Tennessee game was the fact that Alabama's defense gave up a stingy 11 yards in the first quarter and 26 in the third quarter. They were solid in the other quarters too.

Alabama relied on their stingy defense and a running game. Alabama scored 26 straight points and won by 20 over the Volunteers. Alabama is still unbeaten. Alabama has won two in a row against Tennessee since the 1991 season. They have now won three out of the last four meetings between the schools.

I've never been prouder of our team, our players the way they competed in the game," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "Tennessee's got a good football team and they played with a lot of heart and a lot of toughness out there tonight. That was a really good football team."

The Alabama defense held the Vols to 173 yards in total offense on the night. The Crimson Tide allowed only 36 rushing yards in the win. Alabama sacked Tennessee quarterback Nick Stephens twice and forced seven punts.

"I think the defense did a really good job," safety Rashad Johnson said. "There were times we were put in tough situations and we did a good job of keeping them out of the end zone, especially early in the game. We really stepped up to the challenge and had a pretty good game."

Alabama made a crucial defensive stand once they were leading 6-3 in the second quarter. They held Tennessee to an unsuccessful field goal attempt after they partially blocked a punt that had given the Volunteers possession at the Alabama 32 yard line. Alabama scored a touchdown on their next possession after Tennessee missed a field goal. Alabama QB John Parker Wilson hit Julio Jones for passes of 19 and 35 yards. Glen Coffee found the end zone four plays later when he ran 3 yards out to give the Crimson Tide a ten point lead a couple of points before halftime.

Tennessee missed another crucial field goal and Alabama kept their ten point lead.

"This is the best we've played in my opinion since the Clemson game," Saban said. "We played a complete game today. This was a complete game by our team today and it certainly needed to be because I have a tremendous amount of respect for their football team."

The Crimson Tide's offense held the ball for over 35 minutes. They converted all four of their red-zone scoring chances. They were 2-for-2 on fourth down conversions.

Upchurch finished with 14 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown. Coffee rushed with the ball 19 times for 79 yards and a touchdown.

"The way we ran the ball tonight, those running backs did really good," Wilson said. "We were able to mix in the pass and stay really balanced and come out with a good attack. With the way our defense played tonight, if we just kept the ball and didn't turn it over, we were going to win the game."

Alabama's last touchdown came in the last quarter. They put together 8 plays for 65-yards. That touchdown came after a four yard run that brought the score to 29 to 3. The Volunteers only touchdown came on its last drive. Stephens threw a 10-yard pass to Josh Briscoe in the end zone.

What?! The Cardinals are in the playoffs? They won their division?! That's right folks, after 20 years Arizonans have something to cheer about. For only the second time since coming to the valley of the sun, the Cardinals have finished above .500 and have gone to the playoffs. 1998 saw the Cardinals, lead by ex- Arizona State University Sun Devils standout Quarterback Jake "The Snake" Plummer, make their first trip since coming here in 1988. That year they knocked the Dallas Cowboy's, led by criminals Michael Irvin and Leon Lett, out in the NFC Wild Card game with a convincing 20-7 victory. Of course, they lost to the Minnesota Vikings the next game. Now we once again have hope my friends! After finishing the season 9-7 and clinching the NFC West division the Cards went on to beat the Atlanta Falcons 30-24 at home. This victory came 61 years after their last playoff home game, which was when the 1947 Chicago Cardinals won the only championship in team history. Could we be witnessing the rebirth of a long thought dead organization? In my humble, completely biased opinion...YES!!! Call me crazy, but the red and white has a chance.

The Cardinals are fueled by aging but reborn Quarterback Kurt Warner and, OH MY, are they every fun to watch! They have the best tandem of receivers in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, who is possibly the toughest receiver ever to play the game. I mean, come on, the guy played with a fractured hip last season and this year bounces back after a frightening helmet-to-helmet hit against the Jets. He terrorizes his opponents. No team has an answer for the Warner-Boldin-Fitzgerald dilemma they face. Edgerrin James, who has taken a backseat to rookie Tim Hightower, even out ran Atlanta's Michael Turner this last game. Turner is the number two rusher in the league, and by shutting him down and increasing the effectiveness of their own running game, the Cards show they are ready. All season everyone has known about their passing game but the running game has been stagnant at best. The Cards get to the playoffs and they step it up a notch and begin to make teams worry about the rush so they are not as effective against the pass. Who would've thought the Cardinals had it in them? The team has a bright future as long as they can keep this group together. With ex- University of Southern California star Quarterback Matt Leinart taking lessons from two time NFL Most Valuable Player Warner, even when Warner calls it quits we will be a force to be reckoned with.

So, our next victims will be the Carolina Panthers, and then the winner of the New York Giants - Philadelphia Eagles game. Of course these will be tough games as the Cards lost to all three of these teams this year, but any true fan will tell you the red and white terror will take the NFC title and move on to the Super Bowl. I can just see it now, February 1st, 2009 in Tampa Bay, Fl the nation will be in awe as the Arizona Cardinals Face the San Diego Chargers for the right to call themselves the nation's best. Two teams that just a couple of years ago seemed like they would never even sniff the playoff branch again.

Buying tickets from an online ticket broker is the easiest way to get sold out tickets to NFL football games.

However, you must be careful because they can also be the most expensive, though that is not always the case. Sometimes you can find tickets for less than face value by buying at the right time. More on that later. The reason that purchasing from a Ticket Broker is the easiest way to get tickets is that you can buy them from the convenience of your home online without any haggling involved, unless you are purchasing from an auction.

The broker simply sets the price that they wish to sell their tickets. Then you purchase them at that agreed price and pay the fees and shipping charges to have the tickets sent to your address.

One thing to keep in mind when buying from a ticket broker is the total price of the tickets, including shipping and fees. Brokers typically have fees that can range from 10% to in excess of 20% of the ticket price!

They also may require expedited shipping, instead of regular first class mail. This is often the case to make sure that you receive your tickets in time for the event and because insurance is usually automatically included with the expedited shipping. If possible you do not want them to have them overnight the tickets or send them by some other type of expensive delivery since that is going to add to your bottom line. And we like our bottom line to be ...

Low as possible!

So when exactly is the best time to purchase tickets from a Ticket Broker to get the best price?

I really need your attention now. I need you to make sure that you take heed to this advice! This advice alone could save you hundreds of dollars on tickets!

It is usually best to purchase the tickets after the season starts. And not just after the season starts but closer to game time. I am talking like a week or so before the game! Huh? I thought you got the best deals by buying tickets far in advance? Yeah, that is what most people think. That is what I also used to think until I started searching for tickets, myself.

You can usually get a better deal by waiting later rather than purchasing far in advance. However, you do not want to wait too late because then you will have to pay more in next day or 2 day shipping to get the tickets on time. So you have to find the balance between purchasing tickets close to game day and far enough in advance to get the tickets without paying next day or Saturday shipping charges.

So a good time frame would be about 4-6 days in advance or between Monday and Wednesday before a game that is played on Sunday.

So where are these ticket brokers that I keep speaking about? Well if you do a search online for "Packers Tickets" or tickets for whoever your team is you will find that hundreds of thousands of sites come up.

Well I will make it a little easier for you. I have included the best online NFL Ticket Brokers here. This is one of the ways to get sold out tickets to NFL games. It is very convenient and you can get discount tickets if you follow the instructions in this article.

Seth Taylor is the author of the NFL Ticket Guide, an e-book that provides NFL fans with tricks and techniques to obtain discount NFL tickets.

He is offering for a limited time a FREE report that reveals multiple ways to get discount NFL Tickets.

Head coach Tommy Tuberville has a new offensive coordinator, Tony Franklin. Franklin has implemented a spread offense, which should provide much excitement for the Tigers faithful. Whom the starting quarterback will be remains a question. Sophomore Kodi Burns and junior college transfer Chris Todd were still vying for the starting job after the team's spring practice ended. Burns' improved as a passer this spring and his dual-threat ability as a runner makes him the likely choice. But don't count out Todd, who has a better understanding of the spread offense. Todd signed with pass-crazy Texas Tech before opting for junior college after two seasons.

Burns was the backup quarterback last season. Franklin took over the offense in December and gave Burns a chance to play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Burns ended up throwing a touchdown pass and running for the winning touchdown in overtime.

The running game will be a group effort led by Ben Tate. Tate rushed for 903 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Senior Brad Lester will also get some carries. The speedy Lester rushed for 530 yards and three touchdowns last season. Mario Fannin and Tristan Davis also figure to see some carries.

The receiving corps will be led by former walk-on Rod Smith. Smith caught 52 passes for 705 yards last season. Seniors James Swinton and Robert Dunn also figure to start, but many receivers will see action in this offense.

Auburn should field one of the SEC's best offensive lines. Seniors Tyronne Green (guard) and Jason Bosley (center) will be joined by sophomores Ryan Pugh, Chaz Ramsey and Lee Ziemba. All three sophomores started last season, including that big win in "The Swamp" against Florida.

Will Muschamp left for Texas, so Paul Rhoads will take over as defensive coordinator. Sen'Derrick Marks moves from end to tackle. Marks had 43 tackles last season. End Antonio Coleman had 18 tackles for a loss last season and figures to be the leading sack artist.

Linebacker Tray Blackmon is back for his junior season. Blackmon missed four games and played on a bad ankle last season, but still managed to record 45 tackles. Outside linebackers Craig Stevens and Chris Evans also return.

Rhoads has already left his mark on this defense, moving Aairon Savage from safety to cornerback during spring. Strong safety Zac Etheridge is the leading returning tackler from last season's squad.

Wes Bynum will once again handle the kicking duties. Bynum nailed 17 field goals as a true freshman last season, including the last-second game-winner at Florida. Punter Ryan Shoemaker also returns. Shoemaker averaged 42.4 yards per punt last season.

Auburn's offensive struggles last season prompted Tuberville to go with Franklin and his spread attack. If the team can learn and execute this offense, the Tigers figure to have a lethal offense to go with a stingy defense. Auburn should end up with a Top-10 ranking and a BCS bowl game. An October road game at West Virginia could play a big part in any national title aspirations.

He was passed up by every NFL team in the 2008 draft. Forte was finally selected 44th overall out of Tulane University, in the second round by the Chicago Bears. He was the sixth running back selected in the draft. Forte was picked after other backs such as D McFadden, J Stewart, F Jones, R Mendenhall and Chris Johnson. Forte will have the most impact this season than any of those other backs selected before him. He is the only one that is the true starter. All of the other listed are either backups or in a time share. I believe that his future in the NFL will be just as bright as any of the other running backs selected. I feel that he, along with Stewart and C Johnson will end up with the best NFL careers. Yes better than both McFadden and Mendenhall. McFadden in my eyes is overrated. He is not special. He runs straight ahead and is only good when he has a big hole to run through. But he can not make it happen on his own. Forte, C Johnson and Stewart will prove to be the best of this crop, in that order.

The Bears had the idea that he would be able to compete for the starting RB job right away. They didn't believe that he would be starting though in week 1 though. At the time of the draft, Cedric Benson was still their starting running back. Although Benson had been in some trouble in the offseason, he was #1 on the depth chart. They also had Adrian Peterson who had filled in admirably when Benson got injured last season. Then after the draft, Benson got in another alcohol related incident and the Bears had enough. Benson was released and Chicago was confidant enough in Forte to name him the starter.

Forte offers Chicago everything that Cedric Benson couldn't. Benson seemed slow last season. He ran into the line of scrimmage far too often and had trouble breaking a play to the outside. He lacked speed and wasn't much of a 3rd down back, because he didn't block well and receiving was never his strong suit. Forte has proven to be the exact opposite. He has enough speed to take it the distance. He can bump the play to the outside to make something out of nothing. Forte has also been great receiving out of the backfield. They occasionally line him up on the outside and he runs wide receiver routes. Forte is very versatile and the Bears have literally designed their offense around him. He is the catalyst of this offense.

Lately opposing defenses have been loading the box on the Bears to try to contain Forte. They are forcing Orten to beat them through the air. Orten did pass for 330 yards this week against the Lions. This has cut into Forte's running yardage. But if Orten continues to pass well, opposing defenses will not be able to continue to cheat against the run. The past two weeks, Forte has been contained to 79 total yards on the ground. But since he can beat you so many ways, he has also contributed 9 catches for 67 yards in that time. He also had added 2 touchdowns.

Matt Forte is on pace this year for 1800 yards from scrimmage. He also is on pace for 70 catches and 12 touchdowns! Those are pretty gaudy numbers for any running back in the NFL, let alone a rookie. For all of you fantasy football owners who were lucky enough to take a stab with him, you should be happy with yourself. In your average 12 team league, he was likely a 6th round draft pick. You got yourself an absolute steal! He was most likely drafted as your third running back and if he has been sitting on your bench, then you need to change that. If you have 2 other stud running backs in front of him, then you have to consider trading one of them. Try to upgrade at another position. You need to find a way to get Forte in your lineup every week. He WILL be a top 10 fantasy running back this year. Possibly even top 5. The only think holding him back is Orten. Even this past week when he "disappointed", he still ended up with a solid fantasy games. Although he only had 36 yards rushing, in leagues where you get 1 point per reception, he still ended up scoring 21 points.

The bottom line is Forte is a stud. He will continue to be a stud all season long. And will be a stud for years to come.

NFL: America's Game: Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins of the early 1970s weren't especially big, quick, or flashy, and they were soundly beaten by Dallas in Super Bowl VI, but they earned their place in history the following year, becoming the only team in National Football League history to go undefeated (17-0). The Dolphins' "No Name Defense" of 1972 gave up the fewest points in the league, while the offense-playing most of the year without Pro Bowl quarterback Bob Griese-relied heavily on the ground game. Running backs Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris ran for over 1,000 yards each (an NFL first). Griese returned for the postseason and led Miami to a 14-7 victory over George Allen's Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII, completing the Dolphins' perfect season. It was a dilemma no other NFL team had ever faced: How do you improve on perfection? But head coach Don Shula believes that the 1973 Dolphins were even better than the team that went undefeated a year before. In Super Bowl VIII, the Dolphins pummeled the Minnesota Vikings for their second-straight world championship. Americas' Game features exclusive interviews with Larry Csonka, Don Shula and Manny Fernandez (The 1972 Miami Dolphins) and Mercury Morris, Dick Anderson and Bob Kuechenberg (The 1973 Miami Dolphins). Join NFL Films as they recount the stories of the '72 Dolphins' run to 17-0 and the '73 Dolphins' success in defending their Super Bowl title.

This is a brief article on my opinion of satellite radio since I purchased it almost 5 years ago. These opinions are my own, and I'm sure others will differ. You can always have your own opinion if just go out and buy a Sirius universal tuner, and hook it up to your car. Then you can make your mind up on the matter.

I originally purchased a cheap Sirius tuner because I was taking a 1200 mile trip about 3 times a year in an automobile. I always ran through some long stretches where I encountered some dead zones. The relatively new satellite radio seemed the perfect solution.

Once I started using this radio at home on a regular basis I found out that I may have lucked out. I had perfectly good reception in my home town, but when I drove to a highly populated area about 15 miles to the north I couldn't get a clear signal. It seemed all of the lower FM frequencies which Sirius was using were all being used by local radio stations, causing them to bleed over to the satellite station. I haven't given it a whole lot of thought, but what are these people doing to correct their poor reception?

So here I am driving down the road, listening to my 70's and 80's music stations where I come upon an ad for XM radio and they are covering all of the major league baseball games for the upcoming season.. I am a baseball junkie, so back online I go and purchase an XM receiver. This turned out to be a good deal for a transplant like me who has followed the White Sox since I was 7 years old. I get to listen to the home town announcers call all of the games.

I found the XM receiver to have the same problems that the Sirius tuner had. I was getting poor reception in high traffic areas. They both cover similar subjects as far as music, talk shows both right and left, and the weather and road conditions for about 50 cities nationwide. The one difference is the sports programming. While XM has baseball, Sirius covers college and NFL football along with others that I didn't have as much interest in.

I attempted to cancel my subscription to each provider once a season ended, but had a tough time doing it. In the beginning they kept my account open and gave me a month of free listening. By the third year it was up to 4 months to where the seasons were overlapping.

I see that Sirius and Xm are going to merge. I don't know how this is going to effect the programming or the cost of the subscription, but I imagine I'll still be able to take my 1200 mile trip 3 times a year and listen to my Sirius radio still using that cheap Sirius universal tuner that I got 5 years ago.

Discipline is one of the key ingredients of poker success. In fact, discipline or more accurately, self-discipline is the cornerstone of success in almost any of life's pursuits.

Have you ever heard of a successful, but undisciplined individual in any of these fields:

  • stock market investing,
  • professional gambling, or
  • professional athletics?

The answer, of course, is no. And furthermore, you never will. Almost any form of personal accomplishment requires self-discipline, especially professional accomplishment. The higher you aspire, the higher the level of required discipline.

I often refer to discipline as a virtue. Indeed, it seems that many are blessed with perfect discipline at birth. And there are some, who throughout their lives never seem to have a clue or care. While, the rest of us literally struggle daily to hold everything together. But, despite or perhaps because of the struggle, even we strugglers will eventually succeed.

So, what is poker discipline? First, a general description. Poker discipline, both at the table and away from the table, is about:

  • self-denial,
  • study,
  • practice, and
  • doing the things that are not fun, and that you would rather not be doing.

Poker discipline is about doing all the things all of the time that you know you should be doing to play your best and to constantly improve.

Here are a few examples of poker discipline in action:

  • when you would love to bust an opponent by chasing an inside straight draw, but you fold instead,
  • when you read and re-read every word of the latest poker book, even though you will miss going to the movies,
  • when you drop down a level when losing, rather than moving up to try to quickly recover,
  • when you open a bottled water while playing, even though you are really thirsty for an ice cold beer,
  • when you are tired and go to bed, instead of squeezing in one last Sit n Go tournament, and
  • when you eat light, instead of devouring that huge meal just before a tournament.

These are just some common sense, everyday, well known rules. And, there are many more.

The important question is, did you break any today? Every lapse in discipline undermines mental resolve. That is, the lazier and looser we get, the lazier and looser we get. It is a steep, slippery slope.

Like they say, practice makes perfect. What they also say, is that what you practice is what you will become. So, if you practice bad habits, you will become, most assuredly, perfectly bad. And, vice versa.

With experience you will learn all of the good, as well as all of the bad poker habits. Self-discipline, or the lack of self-discipline will then determine which poker path you follow. It is entirely up to you. Will you become a perfectly good, or a perfectly bad poker player?

Expedited shipping is not available for this product.**** A small version of the on-field helmet. Full detail including chin strap. Great for autographs. Display case not included. Your football memorabilia collection is probably one of your most prized possessions. So it is extremely vital that you protect its condition and help preserve it longer. It may either be a simple collection of football trading cards or a longtime hobby of completing the NFL mini helmet collection. Some factors such as frequent exposure to moisture and heat can surely increase the probability of it discoloring and fading. It is also prone to dust and simple handling can prove to affect its net worth in the future. This is especially applicable to signed memorabilia such as posters and photographs. These factors can lead to smearing, bleeding or worst, the signature can disappear entirely.

Display cases for your valuable collection will probably be the best protection you can give for your memorabilia. There are many display cases available in the market that differs in quality and durability. These cases do not only protect these items but is also an attractive way of showing off your collection. Therefore, it is important that you find the best display case you can afford to protect these items and ensure they are seen and appreciated by their true value. Here are some tips you can consider before making a final decision in the display case perfect for your football collection.

Design
Typical display cases are cubed shaped but there are a few designs that come in hexagonal, round or other shapes. Display cases are all manufactured acrylic but the sturdy and hardy cases often have solid bases. These cases are available in oak, walnut or black bases. You should choose a display case according to your design preference as well as its quality.

Quality
Quality is the most important aspect you should consider when shopping for a display case. Although it is considered that any protection is better than no protection at all, it is always best to purchase a display that has better quality than others. Look for characteristics such as sturdiness, good craftsmanship and durability.

Construction
It is important that you determine how the display case is crafted. Some may be glued or just stapled together. Even though this protective case may only last for a few years, it is much better that it is attached in a more secure way like handcrafted cases. One good tip is to select a display case that is handmade rather than one that is mass-produced. You can also check if the wooden base is made out of endurable wood and not compressed paper or wood laminate.

Display cases are designed to protect collectibles such as your NFL mini helmet collection. If you truly want to ensure that your memorabilia will last longer and will be protected, it is important that you purchase one that is ideal and strong enough to withstand the harsh effects of moisture and heat.

Futures are single wagers placed on the outcomes of future events. For example, a future bet may involve picking the winner of the Super Bowl, the World Series, or the Stanley Cup.

NFL future wagers are very popular bets for professional gamblers. A few weeks prior to the start of every NFL season Las Vegas and online sportsbooks will post future betting odds on the projected season win totals for each NFL team. Sports bettors may bet over or under the projected win total posted on the betting board. Odds on each individual team may change throughout the preseason. When you place your bet on a team in a season win future bet the odds at the time of betting remain the same. Professional gamblers who bet on season win totals follow the best practices. A good practice for gamblers is to keep up with the offseason player movement. With free agency players will often change teams. More importantly NFL teams will address needs and the sports betting professionals pay close attention to the running back and the offensive line position. A good running game in the NFL can make up for faults from the teams starting quarterback. Defenses who respect the opponents running game cannot sit deep in coverage. The linebackers will inch closer to the line of scrimmage creating more space for wide receivers as they run their routes and making play action passing more effective. The NFL draft is much hyped but rookies coming into the league will not have the same impact like we see in the NBA. A best practice for sports betting professionals is tracking coaching moves. Offensive and defensive coordinator movements make a huge impact on teams. Each coordinator has a system and in order for it to be effective the team needs the right players to play in their system. Professional NFL betting gamblers will look at each teams depth chart looking if the team has the right personnel to meet the needs of an incoming offensive or defensive coordinator.

Future betting on season win totals is also available on the major college football programs. Sports betting professionals who bet into Las Vegas or online sportsbook posted odds would look for a few things when betting over or under the season win total for college football teams. Many gambling professionals will look for the amount of returning starters each season. This can make a huge impact on a college football teams season as collegiate athletes have a heavy classroom workload at their major university. College football teams simply cannot put in enough work on the practice field and less experienced teams are often at a disadvantage early in the season. Another important issue to look at is the college football teams upcoming schedule. Like in all sports winning on the road is tough and you want to look for the teams schedule and more importantly are their most difficult games at home or on the road.

Sports betting professionals who make future bets on season win projections in Major League Baseball will look at pitching staffs. The pitching position in baseball has the most impact in the outcome of baseball games. A best practice for sports bettors is tracking the offseason player movement and keeping a close eye on each teams starting 5 in their pitching rotation. Gamblers also keep a fine eye on major league baseball teams back end of their bullpen. The backend of the bullpen is of most importance as teams look to protect leads late in the game. A set up man who enters the 8th inning and the closer who protects close leads in the 9th inning are of great importance to sports betting professionals as Las Vegas or online sportsbooks.

In all circumstances the odds are usually given in fractional format (e.g., 4/1). All wagers have action, regardless of relocation or name changes.

Football was a rather late entrant into the online game arena. But it soon made up for the lost ground and became one of the most sought after games in the cyber world. There are a number of types of online football games. Some football gaming software applications simulate the exact match conditions and player characteristics and allow the users to represent a whole team. Some other game software packages and websites allow the user to play specific instances of football matches like taking free kicks and penalty shootouts. Some websites offer the fantasy game of virtual manager for major football tournaments and premier football leagues.

Types Of Online Football Games

The games that simulate actual match conditions are the most popular type of online football games. In this type of games, the user must be familiar with the keyboard controls of the software. The Football Championship League which is often called 'The Championship' for short, is sponsored by Coca-Cola which means that it's official name is the Coca-Cola Football League Championship. It is the Highest Division in the Football League and the second highest overall in the English football league system. The highest being the Premier League.

The Football League Championship came into being for the 2004-2005 season having been known prior to that as the Football League First Division. The league is made up of 24 teams who each play a total of 46 games through out a season. A single season runs from August of one year, through till May of the next year. During this season, the 46 games that each team plays are made up of them playing each other team twice. One of these games is played as a 'home' game - at their own stadium, and the other as an 'away' game - at their opponent's home stadium.

When a game is played, the team is awarded points based on whether they win, draw or lose the game. They receive three points for a win, one point for a draw, and no points if they lose the game. These points are used to rank the teams in the league table. If two or more teams have the same number of points, then the goal difference and then goals scored is taken into account in order to rank them correctly.

At the end of the season, the team with the highest number of points is the league champion. The two teams finishing in the top two positions are promoted into the Premier League and the bottom three teams are relegated to Football League One. Also, the teams finishing in positions 3, 4, 5 and 6 compete in the Championship playoffs. This is a knockout competition, with third place playing sixth place, and fourth and fifth place teams playing each other, with the winners of each match playing a final match against each other. The winner of this game win promotion up into the Premier league as well as the Championship playoff trophy. The three teams who have been promoted are replaced in the division by the three teams relegated from the bottom of the Premier League. Likewise at the bottom of the league table, the three teams that have been relegated to Football League One, are replaced by the teams who have been promoted from there into this league ready for the next season.

A fairly large percentage of the league's revenue comes from television rights. The television rights for the Football League Championship are currently held by Sky Sports who have bought this exclusive right until the 2009-2010 season when they will show 65 matches live. The BBC will at that time also show 10 live games per season. The three year contract deal is worth a total of 264 million that will be paid mostly by Sky.

The National Football League is one of the best shows in the United States. Although some sports have a lot of fans, nothing comes close to what football has. So what makes football different from most sports? One very good thing about football is that the enjoyment is found not just in watching the games but also in watching it with someone close to you. Be it with your family, your co-workers, friends or neighbors.

People also gather to watch National Football League games in a variety of places. These places range from somewhere as simple as their homes, to bars around town and even to the stadium itself. The most common form for most people is to hold a barbecue and then watch the games with some popcorn or beer.

The experience of watching the game is further heightened when one has different gear with them. There are those who bring toys or a football ball while watching the game. Some bring collectible cards and compare player's statistics while watching. However, none of these compare to watching the games while wearing their favorite authentic NFL jersey.

So, why the use of the term authentic? You see, there are actually two types of jerseys. We have what is called the replica jerseys and there is what is called the authentic jerseys. So what is the difference between an authentic jersey and a replica jersey? Although at first glance an authentic jersey may look similar to a replica jersey, there are actually faint differences that you will notice if you look closely or know where to look.

First, while both may have the team's name, the player's number, and even the player's number, only the authentic NFL jersey has the official NFL logo sewn into it. Second, authentic jerseys also have the mesh sleeves combined whereas in replica jerseys, a nylon mesh is typically used for the body and the sleeve.

Another major difference between an authentic NFL jersey with a replica jersey is that authentic jerseys sometimes have a player's signature or autograph. In stores that sell them, they often include other freebies.

Why wear authentic NFL jerseys? For one, wearing authentic jerseys give you a sense of belongingness. It makes you feel as if you are part of the team itself. You feel the excitement when the team wins and also feel sad when the team does not. Another advantage of wearing authentic jerseys is that you get to show your loyalty to your team.

Lest you think differently, wearing authentic jerseys is not just some simple fad that will eventually fade like most things. Wearing authentic jerseys has become a part of life that is football. So did that convince you of why it is good to spend your money on something as cool as an authentic jersey? Remember, donning that authentic jersey shows other people how fashionable a sports fan you really. So what are you waiting for? Get that authentic NFL jersey and be part of the game.

NFL Americas Game: Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XIV

By the fall of 1979, Pittsburgh was known as the "City of Champions." That October, the Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles to win the World Series, their second championship of the decade. Meanwhile, the Steelers had constructed a dynasty, boasting three world titles over the past five years. The fan base no longer hoped for victories. Now they expected them. So the standards were high for the '79 Steelers. But every player on the team was confident it could meet them. "Once you have the taste of victory, it's awful hard to give that up," recalled John Banaszak. "The attitude was: We're going to win this every year." Banaszak was one of several lesser-known Steelers who played a prominent role that year due to injuries. Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Franco Harris and Lynn Swann, all future Hall of Famers, were lost for parts of the season. But their backups capably filled in the gaps, and the Steelers went 12-4 during the regular season en route to a win over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV. So join NFL Films as they retell the story of the '79 Steelers. America's Game uses exclusive interviews from Banaszak, John Stallworth and L.C. Greenwood to recount the finale of Pittsburgh's world championship run.

Preconceived Notions

We all seem to have preconceived notions about people, places and things based on the information we have been exposed to or often based on the point of view of those in our immediate environment. In youth football, I can't count the number of times I've been pleasantly surprised by the play and actions of teams and coaches. Quite often the reputation of these Pee Wee teams and coaches was a product of others, just the aggregated frustration and covetousness of other youth coaches, nothing more than just sour grapes. Unfortunately in the world of youth football coaching, these impressions and attitudes are pervasive, widespread and often WRONG.

Be Open Minded

When coaching Pee Wee football, I try to go into these situations with an open mind and a soft heart and let the other team and coaches prove me wrong. One of the most disliked and misunderstood coaches in two different leagues my teams have competed in has actually become a trusted friend and confidant. His organization has gone out of its way to treat us well and in turn we have gone out of our way to do the same for them. Now our organizations enjoy a strong but respectful rivalry and we look forward to playing each other every year for the right reasons. Would we have felt the same way if we listened to others and came into the game with one toe in the water? Probably not.

Huge Mistake

Unfortunately I too succumb to making judgments about people I know little about and in many cases these judgments are 100% wrong. I had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Rick Neuheisel from UCLA last weekend at the Clinic of Champions in

Reno, Nevada. Coach Neuheisel gave a very sharp presentation on his version of the 2 minute offense and how UCLA will be drilling it this fall. I knew of Coach from his days at Colorado, his Buffalos were always a big game when my beloved Cornhuskers were on their schedule. Of course Coach Neuheisels unorthodox West Coast "outward bound" attitude was diametrically opposed to the Nebraska no-nonsense, blue collar, physical ground attack attitude. Coach was not a very well liked man in these parts, the West Coast persona, passing attack, surfer dude persona etc. Then there was the controversy at Washington University with a NCAA Tourney Hoops, pool, more bad publicity. For some reason, while no one around here knew the guy, he was known as "Skippy" and the usually polite Nebraska fans seemed to like to ridicule this man in the papers, on talk radio and in everyday fan conversation.

While one can't take too much away from spending a couple of hours with someone, you can get somewhat of a feel for that person in my opinion. Coach Neuheisel opened his presentation with some background, he didn't talk about his 66-30 collegiate head coaching record or his championships, he talked about some humbling moments he had as a player and how we could relate that to our teams and kids. I didn't know that Coach walked on at UCLA as a very undersized quarterback who was given number 24X as a freshman. X meant you were a duplicate number and probably would never suit up or get into a game. Number 24 by the way that year was Freeman McNeil, so obviously they didn't think Coach N was going to get on the field. In those days they didn't redshirt freshmen at UCLA. Fortunately for coach, one of the other freshmen got homesick and quit so Coach got this players number, #20. Coach N was never in the game program that year, in fact the other kid quit so late that Coach N was known by the original #20's name, not his own, as the game programs had already been printed.

UCLA and Coach Neueheisel

As the season progressed, UCLA was having a very poor season and the coaches were trying to get a spark on special teams. The coaches offered a chance to anyone that would volunteer to play special teams. Coach N volunteered to play and to his surprise the UCLA coaches assigned him to the kick return team, where his job was to block L4 on a trap type block. At just over 195 lbs Coach had to block other teams linebackers that weighed 230-250 running at full speed with malice in their hearts on their kick coverage teams. Coach had a number of very self depreciating stories to tell including one where he was knocked unconscious and his face mask was broken during one of these returns. He didn't tell it in a manner to brag, but to instruct and to make a bit of fun of himself. A quarterback playing special teams as a designated blocker, that impressed me. He never mentioned his Rose Bowl win at UCLA or his Rose Bowl MVP award, nothing like that.

In the after-session mixer in the Speakers Suite Coach Neuheisel couldn't have been different than what I imagined. He was shy, cordial, not outgoing at all, friendly, humble and very willing to offer help and guidance to any that asked, even to a lowly Pee Wee football coach like me. He went out of his way to offer support and appreciation for what youth coaches do for the game of football. He looked you in the eye, gave you a firm handshake and listened intently to what you were saying, asking great questions and asking for clarifications along the way. I came away from that experience with a much different opinion of Coach Neuheisel. He had absolutely nothing to gain by spending time with a youth coach from Nebraska, none of my kids are being recruited by UCLA and I'm certainly not a donor prospect for UCLA.

Lesson Learned

On my way back to my room I felt a bit ashamed at judging someone so wrongly without the benefit of more information or personal experience. I sure hope I've learned my lesson, because my prejudging has so often been so wrong and it's incongruent with how I want my own kids or players to act. I had the very same experience with High School Coach Steve Calande from Pennsylvania, I was 200% wrong about him as well and now we are fast friends. My opinion changed after finally meeting him at a coaches Clinic in Pennsylvannia in 2002. The moral of the story is make your own decisions about people, including players, youth football coaches and parents. Keep an open mind and they may surprise you.

I've been on the other end of those situations myself. I can't count the number of times guys have come to me after a clinic and told me while they were looking forward to hearing me speak, I was much different (in a postitive way) than they had expected. I'm not a win at all costs Pee Wee football coach in any way shape or form. Our premise is: you can win, have fun, play kids, be great sports and teach great fundamentals too, they aren't mutually exclusive goals.

Football is proverbially seen as a man's sport, an excuse to get together with the guys and drink until the final touchdown. While men do seem to be the most common demographic (perhaps they can relate to the idea of men knocking each other unconscious and screaming) there are many women that do actually enjoy the game. This is not simply referring to women who tolerate the Super Bowl parties and serve up BBQ wings to the army of NFL fans walking through the door. These are actually female fans that keep track of the score, root for the home team and would kick the average guy's butt when it comes to organizing a Super Bowl party.

What is to explain this phenomenon and why don't more women enjoy football? Realize that some sports parties are characterized by gender bonding. If men want to hang out with their friends then, nothing personal, they may not warm up to the idea of a wife or girlfriend crashing the party. The man may even fear that the women will bring an awkward energy to the event, such as criticizing some guy-like staples or focusing on the negative aspects of football. The man may be afraid of such a scenario and attempt to keep the game as mysterious and unwomanly as possible.

However, some guys are open to the idea of their spouse joining in on the Sunday fun, especially if she is a natural follower and enjoys watching a good show. The woman may warm up to sports in an effort to bond with her spouse or to make more friends. They may find exhilaration in showing the team spirit, having the common enemy and foe as their mate. When you think about it, football is a rather operatic sport; at once an expression of primal human emotion and a gladiatorial battle between giants. People live vicariously though these sports figures, and so both men and women find human aspiration thrilling and maybe even inspiring.

Then of course there are women who just love football for the same reason that men do-because it's fun, because they enjoy making predictions and cheering on their favorite teams, and because they've watched every Super Bowl since 1975. Men are not the only ones who can become obsessive over sports. There are some female NFL experts out there who can feel the same rush of adrenaline that comes from watching Tom Brady throw a game-winning pass. Everybody loves a good competition and football is America's most competitive game, with the most passionate of fans. It is at once, a patriotic event (watch the city of Atlanta be humbled by Dallas, while New York feuds with Green Bay) and a riveting thriller involving real life heroes and villains who grab that ball for dear life.

There's only one thing more satisfying in life than watching the Super Bowl with the guys, a bucket of wings and a pint of your favorite beverage all to yourself-all that plus a girl by your side who never asks to change the channel.

NFL Super Bowl XLIII Program - Special Edition Hologram

Limited Edition

I was talking with a friend of mine who is a Big East Head Coach about Special Teams. Specifically, punt coverage.

This particular article is about the spread punt.

The spread punt is the easiest to teach. It can be broken down into five S's.

If you can get those five things down, I think you can build your base for putting in the punting game. Here is more detail about the five S's:

  • Punting and Punt Coverage

  • Zone or man set -

Our punter lines up 15-yards deep. You must have a snapper that can get the ball back to him. If we can get the snap and kick away in 1.9 seconds, I feel very good. If the kick is away in 2.0, we have done our job. We break that down on the snap at .8 and 1.1 for the kicker. It is difficult to block the kick if you can get the ball away in 2.0 seconds.

Let me give you the two rules for the center on our spread punt:

  • The center blocks away from the punter or to the right or left call.
  • If a man calls (3-3) he can release.

The personal protector is expected to count the defenders. He counts from our left to the right. He must declare which way he wants the center to block. Here are the rules for the personal protector on our spread punt:

  • The personal protector is responsible for the overload player. The personal protector will always go away from the center on a 44 call.
  • Only count those players whose feet are on the line of scrimmage with linemen or in a threatening position.

  • The personal protector reads left to right.
  • The personal protector scans if there is no man to pick up.
  • The center is always counted.

The magic number is

Again, 8

We have five defenders to our left side. We have three defenders to the right side. Left tells the center to block to the left.

The center snaps the ball then steps back to get width that keeps a seam from forming. Everybody still takes a zone step to help the player to the inside. Once the wall is formed and secure, the blockers drive out on their primary defender. The left slot has number one. The left tackle has number two. The left guard has number three. The center will always have number five in anThe center snaps the ball and then steps back to get big or wide to keep a seam from forming. Everyone still takes their zone steps and to help the player to his inside.

For example, the guards help the center, the tackles help the guards, and the slot helps the tackles. Once the wall is formed and secure, then you drive out on your primary defender. The left slot has the number one, left tackle has number two, the left guard has number three, and the center has number four to the left. The right guard has number three, the right tackle has number two, and the right slot has the number one man. The personal protector has the fourth man to the right side. If we call three it is automatic man blocking. If you are in a 33 protection you can release the center. You have them outnumbered. You are able to block them man-on-man but you never change your steps. three they yell twist alert.

It may be conceived as man protection, but you still take the zone steps. If the defense is running a three-man rush on one side, then they are going to try to run some type of game on the overloaded side. If we get a three-man, we communicate it from the guard outside to the tackle and to the slot back. When our blockers hear

This is an overload situation. The personal protector has number four to the left. We only count the players who have their feet on the line of scrimmage. We do not count stacked outside linebackers.

This is where zone and man protection come together. I have made it clear in our special teams meeting if you are on the punt team you had better get your three steps down. You handle yourself relative to the zone element. You must zone the area and stay square. You must use good three-step mechanics. Now, from there everyone is working together. If two defenders come at the blocker he is going to help inside with his hands before he works out to his primary man. The three steps help take the pressure off the man inside. After we take the three steps, then we set up to take on the primary rusher.

Most of the blockers tend to rush the block. Most of the time they want to go get their man. If they do that they leave the inside man on an island. If the slot man goes out after the number four man outside, he leaves the tackle on his own against the number three man. If the number four man comes inside, the tackle has to take on both number four and number three rushers. The tackle cannot let number three go because he has to help out inside. I try to overemphasize the zone steps before we talk about the man steps. If you talk about the man steps they'll want to one-step set and jump their man. It goes against the principles of the three-step set and keeping the shoulders square.

Up Downs Conditioning Drill

Up downs is an excellent conditioning drill that will improve reaction time and endurance. This drill consists of having players run in place as fast and as hard as they can. At the coaches signal the players will drop to the ground and do a push up, and then quickly get back up and start running again. Because this drill can be very taxing, it is important to increase the time spent at this slowly over time as the player's strength increases.

Learning the Plays from the Playbook

Practicing the plays is fun, and also very important. When you master your part of the play it will strengthen your team and yourself. In order to start learning a play, make sure that you first pay attention to the instructions when they are given. As you start to practice the play make sure to slow it down, there is no sense in practicing errors. Remember that if you need help, you should ask for it. At times we have seen a player fail to advance or refine their techniques because they don't ask for added assistance. Don't let this happen to you Are you done with the play after practice? No wayt thing that you can do after practice is visualize your plays. Sleep on them, and you will learn them twice as fast.

Powerful Blocking Strategy: Double Teaming

In various plays whether you are on offense or defense you will want to have a strategic advantage over your opponents. One such strategy or technique is the use of double teaming on the line of scrimmage. This play is simple, double up and push through. This technique is effective for punching a hole through the line and getting a running back through, or it also works great on a defensive blitz. To execute this properly have both linemen step together at the same time and lock their hips together. They form a wall that the opponent cannot break. The double team should focus on the shoulders, and arm pits of the opponent to control dominance. Work it fast and work it hard

Prevent fumbles with strong techniques

A team that prevents fumbles is a team that wins. There is nothing worse than almost getting a first down or even a touchdown and fumbling the ball, for this reason there is a great need for ball security. A great way to teach tight ball security is with four points. The claw position is the first point, meaning that you grab the football clawing at the point of the football with your fingers. The second point is making sure that your forearm is wrapped tightly on the outer rim of the football. Third, pull the football in close to your bicep to protect it from opponent's jabs and attempts to make you fumble. Last point is to hold the back of the football right up against the ribcage and as you run keep it high and tight. As a player, you will want to make sure that you are well practiced in this skill, and as a coach you should dedicate some time to ball carrying skills. As your ball carrying continues to improve you will insure less turnovers and greater success on the field.

Poker has changed so much in recent years which has changed the way professional players approach the game. You as a new player must learn these poker strategies. It is imperative to follow the pros until you have a proven plan.

A big part of learning is to copy what is successful and master the details without emotion. After you have succeeded at this then you can modify their strategies to fit you own style of play. Like and sport or game to learn poker strategies is just part of the plan which will give you a big edge and put the prize money in your corner. Not only will learn, but then apply this to your game because learning without action is a waste. You will be miles ahead of your competition and have the confidence to make the right moves while others are making emotional decisions. All the pros approach the game with a plan and then change it as needed, but I don't think they enter the arena without some sort of agenda, why would poker be any different.

You must learn poker strategies for different situations. If you are playing cash games versus multi-table tournament games the strategies will vary in many ways. Bankrolls and positioning will play a big role in your success. Learning, practicing then doing will put you miles ahead of the others.

Many people learn by playing, but how much time and money do they waste. If you learn from a proven source right from the start you don't have to travel that trial and error path. Save your money for the game. Learning a strategy will give you confidence and your winnings should reflect your skills.

What Las Vegas jargon names "whales" is in fact the creme of the high rollers species. They are a handful of people that in some opinions don't exceed 500 individuals in the world. Las Vegas hoteliers are nuts about them; some claim four or five of those whales bet much more than the rest of the thousands customers they receive daily. No wonder they are suspected of going as far as selling their first born child to get one of those whales into their gaming area.
Five tips to recognise a whale

* the size of the bet: $50,000 is the low end; Australian tycoon Kerry Packer likes to play seven blackjack hands at one time; his top bet was $375,000;

* the line of credit: 4 to 5 million dollars for one weekend; a fortune for us ordinary earthlings, pocket money for a "whale";

* the treat: whales get all the freebies from the hotel they play: fine dining, luxury accommodations, private jet transportation, expensive gifts... often the US visa for the Asian high rollers;

* the escort: it usually includes bodyguards, beautiful gals and close friends; Las Vegas history saved for the record a legendary tale in which the Saudi Prince Adnan Khashoggi dropped for a bet at Stardust with an entourage of a dozen people;

* the generosity: whether they win or loose, everybody's happy as long as they play; "whales" don't spare tips & gifts.

While the "whales" number just a few hundreds in the world, the amounts they can afford to lose are purely impressive; that is why hoteliers pay specially trained staff for "whales hunting". The Asians form a big part of this exclusivist market, about 80 %. The bottom line is to keep them coming in, at the same rate, after nine eleven.

Unfortunately, Las Vegas seems to be experiencing a decrease in whale strands these days. One reason, that all hoteliers agree about, is they don't get as much privacy in Las Vegas casinos as they would normally get in other gaming destinations of the world. While hotel owners in Las Vegas await their VIP saloons approved, the "whales" gamble in Macau, Monaco or Australia.
